Athlete of the US Elite Sports Agency Zé Teixeira highlighted in the article on the site of Camping and Mountaineering Federation of Portugal on the stage of selection in Cervinia (Italy).
Appointment:
“Of 15 a 17 November, ski-mountaineering selection was in the Italian Alps, specifically in Cervinia, to make a preparation stage for the season 2014 mode.
At this stage, the Portuguese delegation had the partnership of the Ski Club Climbing Chamonix, formed by a team of 25 athletes. Of "our" delegation took part in the already experienced athlete Nuno Caetano, who lives in Chamonix and is also part of that French club. José Ferreira, athlete integrating the Portuguese delegation from 2012, Braga flew to the Alps to join that group.
During the three days, Portuguese athletes took to make enough gap, since the Cervinia ski resort allows, from its base located 2200 meters of altitude, rises up to do 4000 meters in and out of track.
During the days of training were made long morning practice, in order to do some training volume and, to slow, made up small simulation test environment, where athletes roamed short journeys and practiced them the different technicalities of this modality.
For example, performing conversions (direction changes during the ascents) in soft and other pending greater slope, the rapid placement of "seal skins" on the skis to progress uphill, the "blur" (remove the "seal skins" to make cuts) or placement of crampons for progression into more icy and steep pending.
Before ending a day treino, were still made technical exercises safety and rescue, in particular with the use of A.R.V.A (Avalanche Victims of detection for device), shovel and probe, material that is binding in all ski outputs, whether competitive or non-. At the end of each day of intense training, the relaxed group in a local restaurant or coffee for exchange of views
Once Nuno Caetano is part of the Ski-Mountaineering Club of Chamonix and, that is why, knowledgeable of the details of these stages, "Beginner" José Ferreira said the impression I got this first stage of the Portuguese selection of ski-mountaineering:
"It was very enlightening, because the possibilities I have to train in a group are slim to none, except when I go to Chamonix train with Nuno. When I displace Andorra to train, go with friends who only practice downhill skiing and so I'm often alone. Apart from individual workout that I performed with the instructor Yann Gachet, gain experience I had while training and ask questions with other athletes Club Ski-Alp Chamonix was huge, because your competition experience and training is quite large. I hope I have the opportunity to, no future, to participate in stages like this and now thank the FCMP and IPDJ financial support applied in this spectacular but still little known sport. "

Daniel Bastos, BTT athlete variant of Marathon, stood out in 2013 the title of Regional Port and the cup, nationally and finished 5th in the Cup of Portugal, having made a podium. After an almost perfect season will tell us a little bit of preparation and also aims to 2014.
This year you have been regional champion Up-Hill Port, cup and championship Marathons; Nationally stayed at 5 and still did a podium. What was to win?
DB:There was nothing to gain, comply with all the goals that I had proposed in the early period.
What was the high point of the season?
DB:There are two highlights I had this time: the first was to have made a podium in Portugal Cup, the other was to have managed to be regional champions Porto title that escaped me already the two seasons.
The first podium in Portugal bowl of marathons was lived with great emotion, can you describe this feeling?
DB:For me there is no words to describe this moment, It was a unique feeling, I thought such a feat could nape.
Many people probably think that you train many hours a day to have these results, which average hours / week km's?
DB:It depends a bit of the burden we do, but I average 14h to 16h of weekly training.
Your preparation time is set at objectives but also includes footrace, fitness, muscle strengthening, stretching and other care, and do you think has been important in your evolution and especially the level of injury?
DB:Yes, it is important, especially in mountain biking that constantly take "shitload",and with good muscle building is halfway to not having injuries. The level of the foot race is not my forte but I have done and there are times when that evidence is important to have this preparation.
What role do you give to family support based on success?
DB:For me family support is very important, without such support I would not have had the results I had this time.
The year 2013 It was marked by a lot of controversy for many positive doping cases in BTT. In your opinion, which would be the measures to be taken to stop this dangerous and dishonest practice?
If it proved and proved that an athlete whatever it is that is doped in order to take advantage of their opponents the measure was simple, irradiation!
What are your goals for next season?
DB:My goals for next season pass for trying to improve the results achieved in Portugal Cup of Marathons, national and if possible championship make at least another podium.
What advice would you give to people who want to start mountain biking?
DB:strongly advise, it brings us a unique sense of freedom. Furthermore, if you want to follow the competitive path, a lot of willpower and sacrifice spirit…
